Sports massage is AWESOME.....

Posted Aug 04 2009 12:00am

But, damn I am sore today! I had my first real "sports massage" yesterday by this guy that my husband just started going to; he had been working for my husband's chiro-but now does his own thing-he's also recently been hired by the Cairns Taipans (a QLD basketball team for those in the states) as part of their conditioning and rehab program.

On top of the sports stuff-he did some regular-remedial massage as well-so I had relaxation in there too; and let me tell you, if you've ever had a sports massage-you know you need the other stuff in there because the sports massage is not terribly relaxing.
Here is an excerpt from an advert I found-

Sports massage therapy is the discipline of applying deep tissue massage for the benefit of targeting sports and exercise participants. Sports massage covers the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of soft tissues of the body, i.e. muscles, ligaments and tendons.

and the DEEP TISSUE stuff is what does the trick...and hurts the most-LOL!

Basically, I'm a bundle of knots-which I kind of figured, since a person does not walk around in pain for no good reason! I've had the pain in my neck area for years and the sacro iliac about 2 years...all on the same side even. He's also working on my wrist which, again has been niggling over the years-but recently really started aching. Needless to say, this much build up does not go away over night-so I have another appointment for next week. It'll probably take me that long to recover from yesterday's session, ha ha!

I really feel, though, that this guy is going to do the trick-he even found that tear in my pec area (from over-training...ummm ooops!); that was from working on that 100 push up challenge....and continuing regular weight training-Just can't keep a girl away from her weights damn it...LOL! Although today-I was very careful and barely did a leg workout at all-more like a few warm up moves and light treadmill and that was it!

So, taking it easy the rest of the day..and definitetly taking a bath tonight...hopefully ready for action tomorrow! Got to get on with OPERATION BIS & THIGHS! hey!
