Santa Paula Hospital has made it to Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia that can be contributed to by readers. I'm wondering who might have started it and look forward to monitoring its progress! Yes, as it says, this is one of three hospitals in the State of California that were funded entirely by community donations!
The "Pink Ladies" are back, but wearing blue and the cafeteria is once again open and serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to staff, visitors, and patients. Most importantly, the ER is open and being utilized and expectant parents are finding their way back up the hill for OB tours. This hospital is truly the result of a community collaborative and it will be successful as long as there is a balance of commitment, effective leadership and oversight!
Its initial opening and re-opening are examples of what happens when a community wants something bad enough! RHIOs, are you listening?
