Speed Bootcamp: Running & Weights Combined

Posted Jan 14 2011 5:42pm

Happy Friday from the friendly skies! IMG_0870

Do you have a long weekend in observance of Martin Luther King Day?

I often forget that this isn’t a national holiday as it was observed every year in Georgia throughout my childhood and college years.

Workout: A Speed Bootcamp

This morning I switched things up by incorporating weights and my weekly speed workout into the same workout! It was awesome!! Here is this morning’s routine

Treadmill: 1 mile at 6.5 speed

Weights: Overhead press , lat pull down, hammer curls 3 sets of 12 each

Treadmill: 1.5 mile at 6.8 speed

Weights: walking lunges holding 5 lbs weight in each hand, 100 mountain climbers, 1 minute plank, chest press with 2 12.5 lb weights

Treadmill: 1 mile at 7.0 speed

Abs: 200 reps various types, 2 mins of planks

This workout was fun because I never grew bored and it worked all my different muscles. While I know I can’t do every speed workout in this method it was still a great way to break a sweat!

Breakfast

I continue to love this breakfast due to it’s staying power, healthy nutritional stats, and flavor. I think I’ll exchange the banana for berries next week though!

I spent the morning working through everything on my to do list before vacation. I hate leaving my co-workers with any “unfinished business” to deal with while I’m out of the office. It works out well though, as I only had to take a 1/2 day for this vacation due to the long weekend.  I love long weekend vacations!

IMG_0866 I ate this salad, compliments of my co-worker’, before dashing out of the office to meet Bo. Luckily our trek to the airport was a short, smooth cab ride. It was amazing to see how much snow is still along the highway!

Now, 4 hours later, we are comfortably curled up with our books. I love the “me time” I always have during plane trips. Even with the wi-fi access, it truly feels like a treat to have 3 hours of interrupted time to read, catch up on emails, or blog. I’m enjoying a light novel, Last Night at Chateau Marmont .   What are you reading now?

Have a great evening! I’ll try to check in later with an update from Epcot!
