Sodium bicarbonate is an antacid used to relieve heartburn and acid indigestion (acid reflux).

Standard recommendations for   symptoms of acid reflux.

* Avoid trigger foods (typically acidic foods like tomatoes, juice, etc.)

* Eat small meals throughout the day

* Don't eat before bedtime

* Increase your consumption of fruit & vegetables (go for carrots, potato, peas, cabbage, broccoli, and green beans)

* Choose lower-fat dairy products (but splurge on probiotic yogurts!)

* Reduce your consumption of animal fat

* Limit sugary foods, refined grains, and salty snacks

* Dramatically reduce transfats

* Eat more fish and nuts

* Limit alcohol and caffeine consumption

* Drink plenty of water
