Social Media Risks

Posted Jan 20 2012 12:00am

ECRI has a fairly comprehensive overview and  guide on social media that includes some great advice for hospital and other provider human resource managers.  There is also an interesting bit of information related to passwords and data security (see page 15).  My favorites on HR include:

  • Be careful with what you find while screening potential employees
  • Exercise care before disciplining an employee for what they write on a social media post
  • Current employees may one day be former employees so make sure you have educated them on social media and their HIPAA obligations

For those of you who like multimedia, check out the ECRI's video on the guide.
