Slug Like

Posted Dec 29 2012 12:43pm
Today I ran 8 miles and I felt like a slug.

But I did look awesome in these my new Livestrong gear that Kyle gave me.
Minnie approves of the Instagram post.
Today's run was my last "long run" before next weekend's Palm Coast Half Marathon .  Kelsey and I bought the race entry on Groupon and I'm a little worried that I haven't received my official registration email yet.  I emailed the director way before Christmas and he said they were busy and working on it.  I'm thinking of bugging him again...

Back to the slug run.  The weather was gloomy and windy as a front is moving through Orlando.  I also ran a route that I haven't done in some time and I was shocked to see how hilly it was.  Mind you these are "Florida" hills, but even the incline of a driveway wears me out.

I managed to stick it out for negative splits to finish in 1:13:50 for an average pace of 9:12.
I should feel good about that, however it took a lot of effort.  Mega effort.  I'm worried that I didn't train well enough to go sub-2 next weekend. Meah~

Last night we had PF Chang's and opened our final round of Christmas gifts with Kyle and his parents.  I scored big with a new food processor, Vera Bradley bag, black boots, and The Stick .  Yes, I need another way to inflict pain on myself.
Tonight Kyle and I are heading out to a fancy schamncy dinner at a fabulous steak place called Del Frisco's.  We are meeting up with his friends from his college days at USF.  They all met when they worked at the Rec Center this year and one of his friends opened his own personal training studio in Tampa this year too.

Today I'm also going to clean out the kitchen cabinets.  Mark that down as the most exciting sentence I've ever written.  Then tomorrow and Monday I'll be working out at ESPN's Wide World of Sports.

I'm starting to swirl around ideas in my head for "2013 goals". One of those goals is to be a more consistent blogger, so you may seem some mobile posts.  Hope that's okay!

What are your goals for 2013?  Did you meet your 2012 goals?

Love and slugs,
Carissa & Kyle
