Skylar's Room Final Pics, Snacks Today, Food Recall & Our Food Supply, Clarity of Thoughts

Hi Friends! It's so hot and humid here. Ugh. I have been sweating like crazy when I work out and I'm not usually much of a sweater. I'd apologize for giving TMI but I've given far more info in the past...hah! But nothing like "fall" on the calendar coming up, but full-on summer weather in reality!
Today I had some jokers workmen here assembling Skylar's new bed. You may recall that there was quite the drama that ensued with the first two Ikea deliveries and assemblies . As in me waiting around my house all day and them not showing up, and then waiting around most of the next day, too, in order to assemble the armoire and toy organizer system. Fun times.
Anyway, today's assembly men are not affiliated with Ikea and were just here to put the damn bed together. And they were here, just an hour late. But they did get the bed assembled!
She loves her new room and I think it turned out great!
Her Fake "Sleeping Pose"
All the furniture is white so the "theme" of the room can easily be changed with various colored accent pieces, new duvets or bed furnishings, lamps, curtains, and so forth. White goes with anything and will be somewhat timeless. Or so I hope. If I can get this stuff to last for even 5 years, I'll be happy.
Here were some of our Snacks... At Target, I picked up this bar for Skylar and she ate it while I was dashing around Target. It kept her hands busy and her mouth full which mademe a lot more productive. But nothing like handing the empty wrapper to be scanned at checkout. Haha! Anyway, I have heard some people in the 'sphere "rave" about this bar but it looked tasteless, boring, and bland. If you want something with pretzels + chocolate , Heather just posted a recipe that looks wayyyyy better.
Even Skylar who will eat anything, and she ate it, gave it a very meh, whatever type review. "I like chocolate bars better, Mommy".Smart girl.
Here were our Matching Snack Plates: Peaches, Sugar Snap Peas, Blueberries, Raw Green Beans, Red Peppers, Carrots. A real Rainbow going on!
And for Scott and I in honor of the weekend, even though I'm working most of it, I picked up a bottle of Hpnotiq.
Haven't had this since before I was pregnant. My friend Amber and I used to go crazy with this stuff. Oh the stories I could tell you.But shouldn't. Well, I could, but they are R-Rated. Not G-Rated blog material. Haha!
If you want to check out iHerb for those types of things, here Click Here to shop there. If you're a first time customer, enter AVE630 at checkout to save $5.
And I've also added those things to my OpenSky Shopbut you know I'm going to keep it real with you. I think you'll do better price-wise on many things through iherb. Just sayin'. I plan to work with Open Sky and run specials on things and when those happen, Open Sky is where it's at. Just price shop things and compare, as I know you all always do.
I liked hearing if you're into leggings or skinny jeansor not. About half of you have rocked the leggings trend, but the other vocal half said no way, they would not be flattering on your body type.
And thanks for telling me you thought the leggings looked cute on me.
I have other pictures but my legs look pretty thin in them and I didn't want to hear a bunch of crap so I didn't post them. Whatever, I'm tall and lanky but someone always has to say something snarky if I don't carefully select the photos. I've been trying to beef up my legs and butt but genetically, not really my body type. See Here for my Efforts !
We're BFFs already if you're a MAC fan. I have two trunk fulls of MAC, most of which doesn't get used much these days. Not really getting decked out to go grocery shopping and to the park.
Thanks for your car repair empathy. No, life isn't fair. And when people do hit and runs , it makes everyone's insurance rates go up. Sigh.
Just a note for all of you who were a little baffled by the "rules" of who pays for repairs...whether you own or lease your vehicle, it doesn't matter. If someone hits you and runs, you still have to fix your vehicle.
And the only way you're going to do that, unless you want to pay out of pocket, is to file a claim with your auto insurance. Wouldn't matter whether you leased, owned, or had Company A or Company B for your insurance company. The bottom line is you have to fix your car. Therefore, you must make a claim to get the repair covered. If it wasn't a hit and run, you could file a claim with the other driver's insurance, but that was not the case with me. Which is why I just said, Life Isn't Fair sometimes! It was all on my financially and when you turn a leased vehicle in, it has to be in good shape. Just like if you tried to sell a car you own, you really can't sell it in a state of disrepair.
Tip of the Day: For anyone who eats eggs, you do know there's a Big Egg Recall due to Salmonella , right? I am not here to convince anyone that veganism is a great path, the only path, the right path, or that I even care what you eat. I don't. Eat some McDonald's, wash it down with a Coke, and go have a Krispy Kreme for dessert and don't exercise. Honestly, I don't care what anyone's path is. All I can worry about is my own! But, if you do eat eggs, I wanted to give you the heads up about the Salmonella situation !
Questions 1. Do you eat eggs? Do you feel our food supply system in this country is safe,in general? I don't! And I've posted about it Here , Here , and Here .
"Salmonella and e.coli outbreaks everywhere, GMO'ed food, you name it, not exactly safe. Does this worry you? Or just carry on in blissful ignorance because you feel like there's nothing you can really do about it? Thoughts please!"
So my question stands, and there are new readers who didn't get to chime in last time, how safe is our food supply? Do you think about these things, or just live in blissful ignorance because you feel there's nothing you can do to change the situation anyway?
2. Have you ever had Hpnotiq? Do you have a certain liquor or alcoholic bevarage, or even non-alcoholic drink, that just seeing the bottle of it reminds you of times gone past? Good memories, I hope! Any crazy stories? I can always look at a pumpkin spice latte and be taken back to fall days with a little bit of chill in the air and spending the afternoons studying when I was in college. I can always look at a bottle of Cuervo 1800 and remember one or two wild nights at 4am from my younger days, too. Hah!
3. Any fun plans for the weekend? Me = Working, but excited to spend time with Scott and Skylar!
4. When you were a kid, do you remember how long you had your bedroom furniture? I want to say that the bed I got at probably age 3 was the bed I had through high school until I moved out! It was a double bed, and my dresser I grew up with, is still in my possession. Actually, it was the dresser I used for Skylar up until last week! My parents collect antiques so it's not a "disposable" piece of furniture. Actually, it's from the early 1800s so I need to take care of it!
5. I have something I want to talk about and discuss, but I'm not sure what I even want to say because I don't fully know where I am going with my thoughts on it all. It's not normally like me for my thoughts to be all over the board! Does this ever happen to you? You have a hodgepodge of thoughts but not sure how to get them all out in a concise, clear way?
What do you do about it? Wait until they are clear to mention it or just start writing and "talking out loud", hoping that in the process you will achieve some clarity in your own mind on things?
