Just from browsing through Skinnygirl Dish there are already a few things I LOVE. First, this is not a diet book. The Naturally Thin guidelines are mentioned briefly, but this is actually a cookbook–and guide to cooking for those with a hectic, yet healthy lifestyle!
Bethenny claims that no matter how barren your fridge, she (and you) can whip a divine meal. She discusses how to work with what you have to create healthy satisfying meals with minimum prep, cook time and clean up. She also gives a myriad of substitution suggestions that can be used in your everyday cooking, so even if you don’t have the exact ingredients on hand, you can have dinner on the table with out running out to the store!
The book is great for the time strapped, those intimidated by cooking or those who feel they have to follow recipes exactly or not at all. Bethenny aims to increase your confidence and spontaneity in the kitchen. While she provides many recipes, she also discusses how to create your own and how to master cooking techniques—I finally understand how to deglaze a pan!
I also really like that there is a large collection of entertaining recipes. It is always so hard to keep it healthy while entertaining, as you want to your guests to enjoy the food, but you don’t necessarily want them rolling out the door!
