Silver And Gold: Not Just For Decorations

Posted Dec 30 2010 12:00am

Last night I finally decided to take on the last two vegetables from our CSA bag.  Exhibit A:  celery root and beets.

I had to do some serious googling to figure out to cook these two bad boys.  The celery root got boiled and mashed while the beets got roasted.  It my first time eating either of these foods.  The verdict:  beets are okay, celery root tasted like celery and therefore is vile.

Now my friends, the moment you’ve all been waiting for.  Okay actually few of you were waiting for this, but it’s exciting none the less.  It’s my first ever beauty post!

I figured y’all could use a SUPER easy and fun New Year’s Eve makeup look so here it is.  I do promise it’s easy.

What you’ll need:

  • silver or gold eyeshadow
  • black eyeliner
  • black mascara

Start off by doing your complexion the usual way.

Now you’re ready to for your NYE eyes!  Choose either gold or silver eyeshadow for your special look.  Apply the eyeshadow from the lashline to the crease, but not up onto the brow bone.

Life After Bagels recommendations for silver eyeshadow:

  • Nars Trio Eyeshadow in Okinawa (limited edition)
  • Sephora Collection Mono Eyeshadow in Cosmic Trip 85
  • MAC Pigment in Platinum

Life After Bagels recommendations for gold eyeshadow:

  • Sephora Collection Mono Eyeshadow in French Riviera Gold 48
  • Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Pure Gold
  • MAC Pigment in Old Gold

Next is eyeliner.  Draw a thick line above the lashline and below.  The thicker the line, the more dramatic your look will be, the thinner the line the more natural your look will be.  The best part about this look is that you do not need to be precise with your line.  Just draw it on.  Now you go back to the line with a angled eye liner brush, the smudger on the end of your eyeliner (if you have one), or even a q-tip and blend the line until it becomes smokey.

Life After Bagels recommendations for black eyeliner:

  • Sephora Collection Flashy Liner Waterproof in Flashy Black
  • Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes in Mat Black 0L

Now all you need is a lot a lot of coats of black mascara.

Life After Bagels recommendations for black mascara:

  • Clinique High Impact Mascara in Black
  • Diorshow Extase Mascara in Black
  • Sephora Collection Atomic Volume Mascara in Black or Ultra Black

See I told you it was easy, only three steps!  Hope you liked your first tutorial.

Every Thursday in January I am going to feature YOUR skincare questions.  Leave me a comment or email me with your questions about achieving healthy skin this season.

Now that you’ve got your sassy make up look, where are you going on New Year’s Eve?
