I've been meaning to come back and blog about my progress. The reason I've been putting it off is that I have had a minor set back, that really made me think about this goal I set for myself. I think it's doable, I really do but I need to reassess exactly how I'm going about this. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to go on a 6 mile hike, in single digit weather. Crazzzyyy. So, to prepare myself I bought a ski mask, cause y'all know I am not rolling out in single digit weather without some serious protection!! I have trouble breathing in extremely cold air coupled with exerting mucho energy hiking so I really needed this. I was all layered and started the hike. I had not even gone a mile when I realized that one of my feet felt like a block of ice. In my mind this signaled potential frost bite. I left the hike, before it even really started. I was dejected that I had not stuck to my goal and vowed to acquire the appropriate footwear. I did buy a pair of snowboots (fit for -25F weather) and attended another hike but they were not hiking boots and were heavy on the trail. Again, failure. Well maybe failure is too strong a word, but certainly a set back. I'm starting to think hiking in the winter is a crazy idea...we'll see...
