See where your friends are... and put them to work!

This is different, and REALLY cool... With a little bit of convincing, look at this video that my friends at Google made for me. It's really, really AWESOME! Here is the screen shot:
Here is the background:
Google Latitude allows you to show your friend where you are on a map. You can learn more about it by watching this "about" video or checking out the Google Latitude Information page. This app provides us all kinds of opportunities to do some pretty neat things. So I called my friends at Google (who happen to be former colleagues from UW ) with an idea, and they made thevideofor me.
(I am going to skip on all the privacy implications of this, but will note that the app does allowyou to manually set whatever location you want, so no, this won't allow people to stalk you.)
Why is this valuable for you?
Image if all of your friends, upon going to a meeting or event for your cause, posted their location on Google Latitude. It would then notify every body's friends as to their location. This would then beg the question "What are so many people doing at _____?"
Is this a stretch? Maybe... Could it work? Possibly.... Is the technology there to make it work? Definitely!
Could you do the same thing with Twitter? Facebook status updates? Blog posts? IM away messages? You bet!!!
