savory buckwheat for breakfast

Posted Aug 16 2011 10:13am

good morning friends!

sorry for the late post, I took Michelle in to get some blood work done, so a little behind this morning

looks like we are not the only ones who love their salads ! it is nice knowing that we are not the only people who just can’t get enough salads.

this morning we have a delicious blog inspiration recipe for you.

The inspiration comes from one of our dear blog friends, Ashley ! Michelle had the honor of meeting her at Foodbuzz last year and through the year we have seen Ashley create some amazing recipes! And one of those recipes is her buckwheat bakes.

Ashley has created so many different flavors of her buckwheat bakes kinda like what we have done with our socca addiction which we know she is a socca fan too.  All of them look phenomenal.

We had a tough time choosing between some of her sweet flavors or trying her most recent savory bake.

We went with the savory bake! And it was PERFECT! Just what we were craving.

Pure2raw blog inspiration recipe: Savory Buckwheat bake (gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, soy-free)

ingredients:

we did

  • 2 tbsp tahini instead of the milk
  • no salt
  • no basil (mainly because we did not have any on hand)
  • 3 tbsp nutritional yeast instead of cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped zucchini instead of mushrooms
  • no tomatoes just the kale

Whisked all the ingredients together in a bowl and poured into a ramekin.

Baked at 350 degrees for about 30-32 minutes.

Let cool for a little bit and than flipped them out of the ramekin. The bake was delicious plain but also tasted amazing when we added some salsa verde.

Our savory buckwheat bake was so yummy and scrumptious.  We shall be making it again.

If you have not checked out Ashley’s buckwheat bakes yet you must! They are super easy to make and since they are based out of buckwheat they are gluten-free too!!

We love our buckwheat so simple yet versatile to make sweet or savory items with.. Seriously just like our socca where the flavor combinations just start rolling in!

Twins question: Do you like buckwheat? If so, what is your favorite way to enjoy it? If not, would you ever give it a try? Do you like starting your day with sweet or savory meals?

till next time,

xo
