San Francisco Food Wrap-Up

Posted May 28 2010 8:15am
I promised a few restaurant recommendations from my trip so here they are!

The first restaurant is the Epic Roasthouse  located along the Embarcadero. Here is a photo from just outside the restaurant The view is the same inside and it is spectacular when the sun goes down. This restaurant is fancy, so I would recommend it for a special occasion like an anniversary, birthday or graduation. My table ordered a variety of dishes from steak to crab cakes to lamb chops and they all looked delicious (except for the lamb which I don't eat).

The next restaurant we visited was Out the Door , the casual version of The Slanted Door . It is Vietnamese food and I was inspired by Sophia's  trip to Asia. I had the vegetarian curry with a steamed vegetable bun on the side. I ordered it to go which explains the plastic plate. There were so many interesting things on the menu that I really want to go back to this place or try The Slanted Door on my next visit.
Does anyone know the difference in how the dough of steamed buns versus dumplings are made? They are obviously very different and I was just curious about the ingredients. Very yummy.

The last restaurant I can recommend is Amber India Restaurant . This was my second visit and it is excellent food. I ordered a paneer dish, dal, raita, naan and rice. This was my place (x2) Just when I thought I couldn't eat anymore, I spotted a Beard Papa ! What the heck is that, you ask? Cream puffs, of course! It was delicious although I was a little full that night. I got the one with the chocolate on top. Yes, please.
Are you full yet? I definitely ate my way through SF, hope you enjoyed the trip!
