Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! I don’t have any photos from my dinner because how much turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce can we see in one weekend? I will say that it is great having a Vegan Aunt and Vegetarian Mom since we had so many delicious and healthy sides. They made Vegan String Bean Casserole, Portabello Mushroom Gravy, Quinoa Loaf, Broccoli and Mushroom Vegan Macaroni and Cheese, and Vegan Key Lime Pie! Maybe I should have taken some pictures! I do have photos of my Thanksgiving Eve dinner at least! I tried out a new Japanese restaurant in Queens called Sake Sushi . The fact that Sake is in the name may have drew me in a bit!
I’ve been going to the same sushi restaurant ( Chikurin ) since I’ve lived in Queens since it is down the street from me and has $2.99 sushi rolls! The atmosphere and service is not the best there so I decided it was time to branch out and try a new restaurant. Sake Sushi is also right down the street from me so I was really hoping it would be good!
As soon as I walked in, I decided that Sake Sushi has a much nicer atmosphere than Chikurin. Chikurin kind of looks like a cafeteria with bright lights, no decorations, and tables close together. Sake Sushi has cute fishies!
Chikurin is always very crowded but we got seated as soon as we walked in to Sake Sushi. We were also waited on immediately which meant Sake bombs right away!!! I think we made the right choice by trying a new restaurant!
We started off with some edamame.
We also decided to try the Sauteed Asparagus.
Delicious!! I also got Miso Soup to warm myself up a little. The soup was very good and not too salty.
My roomy got the Salmon Teryaki. I was trying to get a cool picture of the steam but now I see that it just looks like a blurry picture of fish. Oh well.
I went with the Rainbow Roll with brown rice. They charged an extra fifty cents for the brown rice but I believe they charge one dollar at Chikurin. Score.
The Rainbow Roll was pretty and delicious! The fish was very fresh and moist.
We had fun…
6 Saki bombs leads to drunk munchies. Looking back on it now, I am very happy with our choices! We definitely got our greens in!
The garlic covered broccoli was amazing! They were obviously really generous with it too. I’ve been covering all of my veggies in garlic powder ever since this dinner. Don’t worry if you have to see me in person; you know I still chew a pack of gum every day!!
We were both extremely happy with our dinner at Sake Sushi! The service was way better than Chikurin!! All of the food was delicious too! Oh yeah, the sushi is also $2.99 at Sake Sushi! I think we found a new favorite Japanese restaurant in Queens!
1) What is your favorite sushi restaurant and why?
2) What was your favorite dish at your Thanksgiving dinner?
