As a runner I am interested in most new pieces of gear that come out on the market.
GPS watch? I got it!
Technical sweat wick wear? Can’t live without it!
Recovery sports drink? Yes please.
But really, the most important piece of my arsenal are my shoes. Finding the right running shoe is vital to staying injury free. After getting injured last year I was re-fitted by a professional at a running specific shoe store. Turned out I need a stability shoe – NOT the neutral pair I was wearing!
Wearing the wrong shoe may have contributed to my injury and changing them up definitely helped me recover. I may change brands or styles, but I make sure to get a pair that is in the proper category for the type of runner I am.
Now I make sure to use stability shoes for my longer runs and opt for lighter weight (and less supportive) shoes for shorter runs or walks.
If you are new to running I suggest heading to a running store and getting properly fitted and assessed for the appropriate shoe.
Money saving tip: Once you know your ideal shoe you can shop around online for a deal!
