Last night, we celebrated Brooke's birthday by heading to a hot new restaurant in Houston.
Roost They only have about 17 tables and do not take reservations, so when we arrived around 7:20 on a Friday night, we knew it would be busy. We decided to wait the 45 minutes for a table and plopped down on the picnic tables outside and enjoyed some wine and beer while we waited. The atmosphere inside in cozy and warm and the menu looked incredible. Our server Sarah was awesome too. We ordered 4 appetizers - all were delicious but the roasted cauliflower was amazing!
bread service w/beet butter and spam butter
roasted cauliflower with bonito flakes and miso dressing
Two people ordered the Angus, Greg got the Wahoo and I opted for the shrimp with curried lentils.EVERYONE was happy!
My husband couldn't pass up ordering dessert - so he got the banana puddingI have never seen him eat a dessert so fast ever. He loved it.Brooke ordered the doughnuts with coffee ice cream and they fancied it up for her birthday! I HIGHLY suggest heading to Roost - soon! Everyone had a wonderful time, the food was amazing, the wine list unique and the service perfect!
Do you know what bonito flakes are?I had no idea until last night...they are dried ahi tuna flakes. They have a smoky taste to them. They were delicious with the roasted cauliflower.
