Robotic Bypass Surgery For Fast Recovery

Posted Nov 01 2008 8:01am
Another new medical technology that I learned today and I really find it very beneficial for people who have to undergo a bypass surgery, for less pain and less invasive surgery through the use of robot.

Heart bypass surgery is done to patients with heart blood blow problem because the arteries are clogged arteries making it difficult to supply blood to the heart. Heart bypass surgery have been performed to a lot of patients all over the world and has proven to be effective.

The University of Maryland Medical Center, has acquired the newest, most advanced version of computer-enhanced robotic technology for Heart bypass surgery called the da Vinci S Surgical System. Robotic surgery provide an increased dexterity, precision and control for surgeons. This Robotic bypass surgery is benefitial to patients because it requires only small incisions and the patients recovery is faster. Robotic surgeons are now using this robot to perform prostate cancer surgery (prostatectomy), minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass surgery (TECAB).
