Until this year I had never travelled for a race event before. It's something I always wanted to do and it's turned out to be just as much fun as I thought it might be. But, when you're staying in a hotel, you have to be so much better prepared because you're away from home and away from all those creature comforts that make up your typical pre-race routine.
In preparing for the Las Vegas half marathon, I'm busy doing all of that "thinking ahead" to make sure I have what I need for pre-race on Sunday afternoon and everything before and after. Here's what I've got so far...
Odds and Ends:
Registration waiver and expo information
"Running Elvis" information for meetups and special corral information
iPad
Cell phone
Contigo travel mug (I'm addicted to drinking ice cold water out of these awesome travel mugs!)
Race Day/Outfit:
Running shoes
Elvis costume: skirt, shirt, cape, belt, glasses and socks
Sports bra
Fuel belt and bottles
iPod and charger
Garmin and charger
Pace band
Compression socks for recovery
Bodyglide
Food and Nutrition:
Sport beans
Gatorade powder
Bread and peanut butter
Granola
Raisins
Almonds
Granola bars
In Vegas especially, I find it tough to find small, healthy snacks that don't cost an arm and a leg so I like to bring that kind of stuff along with me
Other clothes and stuff:
Regular clothes
Going-out and dinner outfits
Sunglasses
Pyjamas
Makeup/toiletries
Hmm, I think those are the major things...anything big I'm forgetting?
