Sigh. 12:42am. We leave for Las Vegas tomorrow, er, I mean later this morning. Ugh.
At the start of the week I had the best intentions to get everything ready throughout the week so that I wouldn't be scrambling come Friday night. After all, I had some pretty big items to scratch off my list including getting the house ready for inlaws who would be watching the kids for 4 whole days and designing and assembling an Elvis running costume. Add to that a last minute way-warmer-than-expected forecast and suddenly my costume plans had to change. And let me tell you, finding a nice, white, technical running tank top in Vancouver is tough stuff this time of year!
Anyhow, I have found a solution and have made my costume. It turned out pretty good. But will I have the guts to actually wear it out in public at the race? I'm just not sure. It's pretty Elvis-y but it's also kind of silly. I'm afraid I'll just look like a bedazzled runner with really bad fashion sense and a cape instead of a running Elvis. Sigh.
Maybe when I post pictures someone can tell me that I really truly looked like the King, even if I didn't? 'Kay thanks.
It's super duper late and I just finished said costume about 20 mins ago and have thrown all of my clothes - including every possible running gear option - into my suitcase and I guess I'm ready to go to bed. We don't have to leave crazy early in the morning but I'd still like to get a good night's sleep tonight as it is a busy weekend ahead.
So wish me luck. Send me your courage vibes to actually wear my Elvis costume, hee hee. And send me speedy thoughts too because it would be awesome to end off 2012 with a great half marathon time.
