Resveratrol for Anti-Aging, Muscle Building, & Increased Endurance!

Posted Dec 02 2008 1:50am

Here are the Top 3 Reasons I use Resveratrol:

Anti-Aging

First, like most people I want to live a very long time.  Even more important, I want to live healthier for longer.  I have yet to meet someone who wants to live until there 120 but have a myriad of health problems.  So living to 120 only makes sense if it can be accomplished in a healthy way.

When it comes to Anti-Aging, resveratrol works to help promote cellular health.  It has been shown to activate SiRT1 which triggers a fight or die response in our cells.  If we can tell our cells to live instead of die they have the potential to continue their replication process.

I believe healthy cells are the foundation for warding off age related diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and heart disease.  As more research is completed I hope my beliefs are proven true.  Only time will tell!

Muscle Building

Those of you who have read articles on this site know I am very into an overall healthy, but reasonable, way of living.  This includes a physical fitness regimen that is based on intense weight training in short periods of time.  As an antioxidant resveratrol helps with muscle recovery.  I also believe the recovery is brought on partially from the cell recovery caused by activating SiRT1.

Resveratrol has also been shown to act as an anti-estrogen.  Excess estrogen production in men has been shown to decrease the production of testosterone.  By keeping estrogen levels lower in men, testosterone levels may increase, in turn helping with muscle building, increasing libido, and anti-depressant effects.

Increased Endurance

Building on the muscle building segment, increasing my endurance has always been a goal of mine.  I hate feeling out of breath.  Prior to starting resveratrol losing my breath was fairly common.  A brisk walk up a flight of stairs easily had me with an increased heart rate and a "winded" feeling.

My workouts are intense and quick, without building my endurance they were a major struggle to complete.  Since starting resveratrol and working hard in the gym my endurance has increased to where I am constantly pushing myself to workout harder and faster.  I recognized the difference when I take a week off of resveratrol every 2-3 months.  By the end of the week my endurance has dropped, higher then the previous break, but not as high as the full dose resveratrol workout.

My reasons for taking resveratrol may be different then yours but I am interested in hearing your reasons below.  Please share your top 3 reasons for taking resveratrol in the comments section.  I look forward to hearing from you all.

Live Longer,

Markus

P.S. - I'd like to let you all know about a wonderful event in my life.  The birth of my beautiful daughter, Hanna, took place this past Wednesday.  Take a moment to cherish the important things in your life!
