Race Yourself is a virtual reality fitness app for Google Glass that looks to revolutionize how people do fitness. Based on the video, it looks like a lot of work has been put into this to make it a quality user experience and the app is a step up in the cool world of technology. For those who use Glass, the company has optimized battery life to 1.5-3hrs of use, it can track heart-rate and your fitness experience through multiple games and sensors, and based on the fact you can take it skydiving, you probably can use it for anything (except water, as Glass is not waterproof). Race Yourself launches sometime in the Spring (2014) and has plans to expand it’s software to other devices like watches in the future. Find more info on their website.
Personally, I love my Garmin Forerunner which tracks all the things I need it to. I’ve never used Google Glass or thought of racing myself through a virtual character, and it would take some convincing and a really good product to distract me from some of the places I like to run and bike. Everyone exercises differently and if advances in technology leads to more people getting fit, than I’m all for it!
