One of my most favourite things about writing for Cohabitaire is discovering the work of terribly creative people, having an inspiring chat with them over email then sharing their works and their words here with you. Hope you enjoy this latest Q&A with Lisa Elle, a super talented US based photographer who I’m sure you’ll agree has the perfect eye for incredible imagery…
I have always loved art and the magical mystery of life, I think photography combines the two for me. I studied art and design at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point and graduated with a BA. I worked as a graphic designer & marketing manager for several years while doing personal photography projects on the side. I am passionate about my wonderful family, art photography and the quest of discovering our connection to the divine. I’m living up all the life I can while I’m here on Earth with my eyes wide open in wonder.
Thank you so very much, what an honor to be on your blog. I love a light ethereal look and I strive to capture that very small moment where you can see into the heart and soul. Sometimes it’s just a flash of recognition, sometimes it’s written in a small smile or the turn of a head. Everyone and everything has a unique and beautiful energy field around them, I want to get the essence of that somehow. I approach my work in that way and for me it is very deep but always fun and I laugh like crazy. I love the light before sunset with sun flare and the golden haze you can achieve.
My favorite combo is my Canon 5D Mark II and my 50 mm 1.4 or my 85 1.2. I also love my 45 tilt shift. I use photoshop and lightroom as I love to work in both. I am constantly learning more efficient ways of doing things. I like to write my own actions and make my own textures for fun. I love to shoot for clients mainly families, and now senior girls. They are just amazing, I was not that cool or pretty when I was a teenager. The bulk of my work is personal projects probably because I shoot daily. I feel lost if I don’t create something everyday. I love underwater photography and I am looking to get a good housing for my Canon. I have so many ideas for underwater shots,I can’t sleep at night… I get so motivated.
I know this has been said so many ways before but it is my main source of inspiration. It’s where I feel most at home and connected to the Universe. It allows me to be me with nothing but my heart and the breeze, well and maybe some bugs. I just finished a “bucket list” climb to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. It was incredibly beautiful and just awe inspiring. I was running photo ideas around my head all day because of all the backdrops and the scenery. The color combinations in nature are just amazing, I always get the best ideas from flowers, trees and water.
My two favorites at the moment are the black and white water and the color water shots. I just love the reflections and the magical quality. It’s like peering into someones dream time. I woke up the other morning after having the most vivid dream about floating in the water with jelly fish all around me. I knew that day I had to take underwater photos. I started to take them and fell in love with the whole process of it.

Cohabitaire quick five…
Morning bird, love getting up early, drinking my coffee and green drink.
I love both immensely so I cannot choose:)
Country, love the big open fields and sky.
Dogs-we have a goldendoodle and a cavapoodle, best dogs ever.
Road less traveled, as I seem to do everything in life backwards but it always works out for me in the end.
