Put a plant on your desk

Put a plant on your desk, indoor plants

Today is a special day because it’s the day I start planning which plants to get for the office – yippee!!! You wouldn’t believe how drab work is sometimes, so after a cheese & wine huddle yesterday, one thing we decided on our mission to improve 9-5 life was to add some greenery. Alleluia! So I’m the (self) appointed plant girl in charge of sorting this out.

But where to start? What to get? Peace Lilies immediately spring to mind, maybe some Bromeliads, or, dare I say – Ferns? It’s going to take some serious thinking – if you have any recommendations – please do drop me a comment below :)

Maybe you need some inspiration to get this happening around your cubicle? Perhaps you’re afraid of committing plant murder? Well, why not mosey on over to Facebook to the ‘ Put a plant on your desk ‘ app and join in the fun of improving your ‘Plant/Life’ balance.

Sure, the Nursery & Gardening Industry of Australia want to sell more plants, but the premise of the idea is solid. Having plants around your workspace can cut down background noise, reduce stress levels and purify the air.

“It’s a pretty ambitious social campaign that blends the digital and real worlds together, creating something a little fun and social in the office to help produce a better working environment. The Facebook app essentially teaches you how to look after an indoor plant, but here you’ll be doing it with all your Facebook friends” says Aden Hepburn, who, as Head of Digital at  IdeaWorks , helped bring the project to life.

Need more convincing? Maybe a chance to win a trip for 2 to ‘plant paradise’ – the magnificent  Daintree Eco Lodge & Spa will do it?! I’m convinced!
