Monday marked the start of my third month of P90X (stay tuned for my post on Day 60 results) and so far so good. I’m doing a modified version of P90X which substitutes running on the usual P90 cardio days and I think the combo of running and strength training with the P90 nutrition plan all works well together.
Anyhow, yesterday was a return to the Chest and Back workout as the schedule doesn’t include that one during the second month. Basically, it’s an all push ups and pull ups workout and damn, it’s hard. The workout includes 6 kinds of push ups, 3 kinds of pull ups 3 other chest/back exercises.
It was cool to go back to this workout because I was able to do noticeably more reps of each different kind of push ups. There were even two of the kinds that I couldn’t do ANY of and now was able to do 10 or more. I know, I know, it doesn’t sound like much, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how much more I could do in the push up department after the past month of workouts. Call me crazy, but it always feels good to see improvement.
Tonight I had 4km on the running schedule so my pal Laurie and I headed out. It’s starting to get chilly so I decided to take my new running pants for a spin and they worked out great. I need to tighten the drawstring a little more I think, but overall, I was nice and toasty.
And, by the time we finished, we had actually run 6.39 km so that was a nice treat too. It always amazes me how quickly the distance flies when you’re visiting with someone.
