PureFit Nutrition bars review & giveaway

Posted Jan 20 2012 11:12am

I was contacted by Emily at PureFit and she asked if I would like to review their nutrition bars & of course I agreed. While in the hospital recovering from my c-section I received a package from her with the 5 different types of PureFit nutrition bars . IMG_5412[1]

Just a heads up right off the bat, you can get 25% off your first order
when you use the promo code PROMO25 on their website

Emily sent me one of each of their PureFit Nutrition bars – Granola Crunch, Almond Crunch, Chocolate Brownie, Peanut Butter Crunch & Berry Almond Crunch – which is what you would get if you ordered the SAMPLE KIT for $9.95 (plus 25% off using the promo code above & $0 shipping in the US). That’s about $1.50 per bar…not bad!

Here’s the deal about their bars (according to their website & literature) -

  • Gluten-free
  • Dairy-free
  • packed with protein (18 g/bar)
  • Kosher certified
  • no hydrogenated oils
  • no artificial sweeteners
  • no sugar alcohols
  • don’t melt
  • all natural
  • voted “Nutrition Bar of the Year” by Bike magazine

My first thoughts after I opened the package & pulled them out was, “they feel like they are going to taste like Power Bars.” They just had that feel to them. The ‘solid & thick yet chewy’ feeling. Not that my fingers can taste, especially through the package, but that was my initial assessment.

Then I tried a couple. I’m not a huge nutrition bar fan – I’d rather eat “real food”, but at the same time, I’m the worst at eating lunch for some reason. So maybe nutrition bars wouldn’t be a bad product to start using as a meal supplement (not replacement).

Anyway, I first tried the Peanut Butter Crunch PureFit Nutrition Bar .

  • Pros – it has a creamy texture and the “crunch” is a perfect addition. Only 220 calories (18g from protein), makes for a good recovery snack. Doesn’t have the ‘all natural’ taste, it actually tastes really good!
  • Cons – VERY peanut buttery, I’m a fan of pb but this was almost too rich in the peanut butter taste. Not enough (for me) to call it a meal, I’d have to eat some fruit or something with it. But as a snack it’s perfect.

OVERALL - LOVED IT! It didn’t have anything close to the same taste or texture as Power Bars (which, according to me is a really good thing!).

I also tried the Berry Almond Crunch PureFit Nutrition Bar .

OVERALL: I’d eat it again, especially if I was in the mood for something fruit flavored. The texture was almost comparable to PowerBar, but you could at least easily chew this bar & it tasted good!

My little man helped me eat the Granola Crunch PureFit Nutrition bar , the last one I tried.

OVERALL: Not my first choice of bar, but my little G man ate it right up!.

So, overall, I’d have to say PureFit Nutrition bars are really good. The price (especially with the promo code) is hard to beat for a nutrition bar. The taste is great, especially because of the “crunch” added. They are a perfect granola bar replacement & would make for a great snack or supplement to a meal. You can’t tell that they are all natural, gluten & dairy free or anything else that they claim, you just know they taste good & are good for you! There is A TON of protein in each bar and a good combo of protein to carbs makes it a really good long run recovery snack! I’d definitely eat these bars again & recommend them to all of you readers.

I’M GIVING AWAY THE CHOCOLATE BROWNIE & ALMOND CRUNCH PUREFIT NUTRITION BARS! If you want to win them, just leave me a comment telling me you do! Easy as that. I’ll pick a winner on the 24th after I post the Total Giveaway Tuesday list.
