Princess Half Marathon Weekend Expo

Posted Feb 27 2013 9:00pm
Race expos are?
     A. A place to pick up your race bib
     B. A place to spend too much money on race gear
     C. A place to listen to running experts share their tips      D. A place to catch up with running friends      E. All of the above
I PICK E! What about you?
This weekend's RunDisney Princess Half Marathon Weekend started with the "Fit for a Princess" at Disney's Coronado Springs Hotel.   This was a new location for a race expo.  We usually have them at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex, however the Atlanta Braves were playing a spring training game there.  New location, but the same great vendors and speakers.
As the RunDisney race announcer my duties at the expo include making sponsor announcements, introducing the speaker series guests, and making other random announcements.  I do some talking and a lot of walking around and browsing.
I usually don't bring money so I'm not tempted to buy the millions of awesome running things I want.  This expo I left with a new Raw Threads "Warrior" shirt, a tiara Sweatyband, a gold sweatyband, and a new iFitness running belt with water bottle holders. The expo also included some wonderful speakers.  Our RunDisney training consultant Jeff Galloway and our official nutritionist Tara Guidus were there.   I also got to introduce Ali Vincent the first female winner of the Biggest Loser.  I met her at the Tinker Bell Half last month. This was her first expo speaking experience.  She was nervous at first, but she was AMAZING! I had goosebumps listening to her tell her inspiring story.  I had a woman come up to me and tell me that she was 400 pounds and is now 250 pounds thanks to Ali's inspiration.  That's 150 pounds gone! If you can ever hear Ali speak, I highly recommend it. We also had some other VIP's in the RunDisney booth included Sean Astin from Lord of the Rings and Rachel Booth the 2012 Princess Half Marathon champion. I spy Jeff Galloway in the background.
The super limited edition New Balance RunDisney 860' s were for sale at the expo.  The line for shoes was massive.  The shoes are about $135 and only sold at RunDisney expos. Good thing I got my beauties at the marathon in January.  On a side note, I did a 4 mile progressive run after the expo of Friday in the shoes and they felt okay.  They are a stability shoe and good for running. But I still run in my Asics typically. I also had fun at the expo seeing so many of the friends that I have met from Twitter or blogging.  Hello Erin and Kat ! A HUGE thank you to my readers who were at the expo and stopped to say "hi" to me.  I write this blog, because I love sharing our fitness story. It means a lot to me that people read and enjoy it.  Thank you Jessica and Kendra for saying hello! BamaGirls rule!
If you had $150 and you had to spend it on something fitness related what would you buy?
Love and do you take credit? Carissa & Kyle
