Prepping for game day

Today is an important day – the Steelers playoff game against the Ravens.  We always have close games with the Ravens, and this will likely be no exception.  I prepared myself by making game food the day before.

Banana nut muffins with chocolate chips (made with Fiber One mix that I had sitting around the house and had to use up):


Adding the chocolate chips to this recipe was key. 

I also made a quiche.  Loosely based off of this recipe , I used a pre-made pie crust, a mixture of cheddar, mozzarella and monterey jack cheese as the base, and turkey sausage on top of that.


Followed by a layer of spinach, and the egg/cream mixture… and finally italian cheese blend.


Healthy game food?  No.  Delicious game food?  Yes.

Now I am enjoying my pre-game dessert – an Apex brownie.


This is pretty good… but not as good as I hoped it would be.  It pretty much tastes just like my beloved Apex cookies, not really brownie-like.  Oh well.  I guess a brownie-like, yummy dessert that gives me 13 grams of protein is better than a yummy brownie dessert with zero, right?
