PB2: Powdered Peanut Butter

Posted May 30 2013 10:00am

I feel the need to preface this review with one simple statement: I LOVE PEANUT BUTTER.  I am not a casual PB eater that eats it every once in awhile, thinks it alright, or doesn’t care which kind I have.  I am actually an AVID peanut butter eater (FINE, maybe a spoonfuls by the jar kind of person…)

But, I digress.  I cannot put into words how fabulous PB2 truly is.  Don’t let the word “powdered” lead you astray… this is anything but a gross & powdery attempt at my beloved peanut butter.  I was quite skeptical before I tried it.  I have found many healthy “alternatives” to just never suffice as a worthwhile replacement for the original food/drink of choice.  But PB2 is truly different.

So, how exactly does it work?  How do you take a powdery substance and instantly make delicious PB?  It’s simple.  You mix it with water.  Yes, you read that right.  You literally take two parts PB2, and mix it with one part water (Serving Size: Mix 2 Tbsp PB2 or CPB2 with 1 Tbsp Water).  Too good to be true?  It’s NOT.  It can be used in place of peanut butter, or in just about any other way, shape, or form you can imagine.  The options are virtually limitless.

Now, let’s look at the Nutrition Facts!  PB2 and CPB2 have 85% less fat calories than traditional peanut butter (regular, natural, whatever kind you buy).  It contains ZERO additives and three simple ingredients: Roasted Peanuts, Sugar, and Salt.  And if you opt for CPB2, it also has Cocoa Powder.  No worrying about “hydrogenated oils” or preservatives, artificial flavors, and colors.  Just all-natural deliciousness AND 5 grams of PROTEIN.  So it saves you the fat, it saves you the calories, but it doesn’t skimp on protein or taste?! How can you go wrong with that?

Nutritional Benefits of PB2

A lot of the positive feedback we receive comes from our customers who had sworn off peanut butter because of the fat and calories in the traditional product – whether it is all-natural or the regular grocery store offerings. It is so rewarding to have customers let us know how happy they are to FINALLY be able to enjoy peanut butter again without feeling any guilt. It seems some people have denied themselves this most popular comfort food for years – what a shame!!

If you have any doubts about the benefits of PB2 vs. traditional peanut butter, read on. Keep in mind, that PB2 is all natural peanut butter without the fat or the added hydrogenated oil.

You can purchase PB2 and other Bell Plantation products in grocery stores and specialty shops around the country.  Click here to find a store near you .

This is “Natural” PB.. and it has a whopping 190 calories and 17 g of fat in 2 Tbsp!  And who stops at two Tbsp..

This is just awful.  190 calories. 16 g of fat… and the ingredients?  Who doesn’t love some “Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils” and additives? Oh, wait.. nobody should love that…

Now, that?! That’s more like it! :)

So, I do not believe in diets… whatsoever.  I believe in clean eating and exercise.  THIS PB is a great way to clean up your diet and save the calories.  It’s a true “health food diet” lifesaver.  No longer are PB lovers left to just figure out a way to not eat spoonfuls out of the jar!

I love to use PB2 in a lot of different recipes.  I dip fruit in it, I bake with it, I cook with it, I mix it in smoothies.  I just eat it, a lot.  Whatever you can do with PB, you can do with PB2.. and then some.

Recipe Tips

Besides just being a delicious product, PB2 and Chocolate PB2 are incredibly versatile. Uses are limited only by your imagination! Some of our favorite ways to enjoy both PB2 and CPB2:

* When added to almost any tomato based dish – salsa, BBQ sauce, Mexican dips, spaghetti sauce – PB2 mellows out the acidic flavor of the tomatoes.

* Any fruit dipped in PB2 or CPB2 powder is delicious! Tip: Spoon PB2 or CPB2 into a zipper bag. Cut a banana into bite size pieces and place in bag. Zip bag closed and shake to coat the fruit – enjoy. This is an easy, kid friendly, healthy snack. Good with apples and pineapple too.

* For a really low-cal sandwich, mix PB2 with grape juice. Spread onto 1 or 2 slices low-cal, low fat bread – a really delicious, calorie conservative, filling snack!
