Party Animal ...

Hi everyone!

So last night I ended up getting home at 1:00AM! Holy moly I am not a party animal at all.. I was kind of annoyed that they got home so late (they told me they’d be home around 11:00 or 11:30) but somehow I managed to stay up. I actually didn’t end up eating the oatmeal I packed.. I munched on some of the high fiber cereal but my veggie filled dinner actually filled me up!

Despite getting home so late I ended up getting about 7 hours of sleep. This morning I felt like making a BIG bowl of oatmeal since I had plenty of time to digest before the 11:00 Cardio Kickboxing class. So big is what I did:

  • 1/2 cup oatbran cooked in 1 1/2 cup water + cinnamon + ginger
  • 1/2 ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup pure pumpkin (stirred in towards end of cooking)
  • 3 tbsp liquid egg whites (tempered in after heat was turned off)
  • 1 tbsp Vitamin Cottage Pumpkin Granola
  • 1 tbsp + 1 tsp Sunbutter (I went back for more- ran out early!)

Plus a drizzle of sugar free maple syrup- for some reason the oats weren’t as sweet today so I added some of my little addiction!

It gave me loads of energy for kickboxing! Body Pump is coming to my gym this October and the kickboxing instructor is teaching it so today he did a little Body Pump preview with lunges and squats.. I almost died! After class I pumped a little iron:

  • Jackknife- 3 sets of 8
  • Crunches on stability ball- 30 reps
  • Captain’s chair tuck with resistance band- 4 sets of 8
  • Shoulder Press- 2 sets of 10 with 12.5 dumbells
  • Upright Row- 2 sets of 10 with 12.5 dumbells
  • Lateral Raises- 2 sets of 5 with 7.5 dumbells
  • Front Rais e- 2 sets of 5 with 7.5 dumbells
  • Reverse crunches- 30 reps
  • Knee tuck on bench- 30 reps
  • Hanging leg raise- 2 sets of 10

And then I did a little foam rolling and called it a day. Those ab moves are from the September issue of Shape Magazine so I couldn’t find any links for you all.

When I came home I needed some food! In Arizona I snagged some Western Bagel Alternative Pita breads and decided to use them today. Inside 1 pita I stuffed:

  • 4 slices turkey
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 Light Laughing Cow cheese wedge
  • Spinach leaves
  • Green chili, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and hot sauce

And on the side I had a little salad that had spinach, strawberries, and red wine vinegar.

New Mexico is big on green chili around this time of year! Most people (including my dad) buys the green chili and then roasts it, lets it “sweat” or cool off, peels the skin off, and then freeze it to have year round. Look at all the chili!

Which is why you’ve been seeing it in all of my meals lately!

After lunch I headed to Marshals with my mom and then to Big 5 to look at heart rate monitors. Mine has been acting funky lately and I’m looking for a new one! I have a Reebok one at the moment and have never had any problems with it until now. What brand do you guys use?

By the time we got home I was so hungry and a little cranky!  I started out with my protein- 1/2 cup Eggbeaters, 1 zucchini, 4 oz chicken breast, green chili, and salsa all cooked in a saucepan.

And then proceeded to eat a microwaved sweet potato topped with 1 tbsp Naturally More peanut butter, cinnamon, and ginger:

I don’t like microwaved ones as much as baked but I was desperate! Although I really wanted a purple one.. looks like I need to go shopping! :)

Well everyone I hope you are all having a great weekend! I’m planning on being a lazy bum tonight and watching movies.. and most likely going to bed at 9 or 10.. How cool am I ;) I may do some more snacking but we shall see! Until tomorrow!
