As I wrote in part one, my weekend was lots of fun- just as weekends should be, right?
On Saturday night, we had a quick dinner where I was introduced to vegan mozzarella cheese for the very first time.
Being lactose intolerant, I am pretty sure that this stuff will change my life. It was amazing! I cannot wait to put it on top of homemade pizza.
Clearly, it doesn’t take much to make me happy.
After dinner, we packed up our cooler and some chairs and headed off to music on the green.
We enjoyed ourselves by just hanging out, people watching, and listening to the blue grass band play…
And then the sky got very dark…
And then the wind came…
And then we packed it up and got the heck on out of there!
We made it back to the car just in time because we got a bit of rain and lightening. Still, music on the green was fun while it lasted.
As I’ve said nearly a billion times, I love going to the farmers market. There’s a little one right down the road from our house that I go to often, but it had been a long while since Michael and I ventured to the larger one in our area.
On Sunday, we decided to take a little drive on over there and pick up some fresh produce!
It’s kind of hard to tell from this picture, but these were the largest carrots I’ve ever seen in my life (basically, a dream come true for Bugs Bunny).
We must have been hungry while we were there because we really cleaned up! Michael even sampled some apple pie.
Our main objective was to buy tomatoes though. We eat them like crazy during the summer (even though my doctor told me to avoid them).
Fresh, local tomatoes just taste so wonderful on sandwiches.
When all was said and done, we walked out of there with:
Local cinnamon honey (which I tried this morning- delicious!)
Corn on the cob
Cantaloupe (I’ve been craving it like crazy lately, and I normally don’t like it. Pregnancy.)
Our next stop was to another one of my favorite local places- The Peach Stand.
We picked up some steak, salmon, and peach salsa (another addiction of mine lately).
Welcome to The Grass Skirt!
