Home LIonel Richie Part one: Weekend Recap (Panera & Krispy Kreme)

4 comments Aug 06/12 LIonel Richie, Pregnancy, Weekend Recap

I hope that everyone had another fantastic weekend.  As always, here’s my recap…

On Friday, my sister Melissa and I met for lunch at Panera.

I love Panera with a passion (especially their bagels and hazelnut coffee), and it had been way too long since my last visit.

Their vegetarian black bean soup is my favorite, but they didn’t have it that day.  I hate when I miss it!

Anyway, I went with their garden vegetable with pesto soup, the strawberry poppyseed salad with chicken, and a whole grain baguette on the side.

Check out the adorable onesie that Melissa bought for her nephew-to-be.  She’s already been spoiling him like crazy!

On Friday evening, I wasn’t really very hungry for dinner- which is extremely unusual for me, especially during pregnancy.

I just made a veggie sandwich with avocado on sprouted rye and had a cup of butternut squash soup from Trader Joe’s (which is delicious, by the way).

After a relaxing bath in which I was serenaded by the great Lionel Richie, I watched a feature on the Magnificent Seven.

It completely took me back to 1996, and I remembered those gymnasts so vividly.  Kerri Strug’s one-legged landing after her second vault was so inspiring, and I loved seeing the old footage again.

Remember how I wasn’t that hungry at dinnertime?

Well, my appetite came back with a vengeance at around 9 pm, so Michael’s kids and I took a little drive down the street to Krispy Kreme.

They scored free hats and were very excited about eating the doughnuts the next morning.

Being pregnant and all,  I ate mine as soon as we got home.  The sugar royally stirred up the baby though!

Michael ate his right away too- although he obviously can’t use pregnancy as an excuse. ;)

You’d probably be surprised by how crowded the store was for that time of the night.  I certainly wasn’t the only one with a random nighttime doughnut craving!

Have you ever had a Krispy Kreme doughnut?  What is your favorite kind?  I love the glazed ones, but obviously try not to make a habit of eating them.

If you are into gymnastics, who was/is your favorite gymnast?  I used to admire Kim Zmeskal and Shannon Miller so much.  And of course, I adore the whole current women’s team.

Have a great morning!

I’ll be back later this afternoon with part two of my recap…

  1. I’m glad I found your blog through Hungry Runner Girl. Anyways, I have been having a weird appetite lately as well. I feel like it comes in stages and I end up hungry right before bed. I love Krispy Kreme donuts-there is one right down the road from my work and they sometimes give me free hot ones because I manage the pool. (The only perk of managing a pool in that area). Anyways-can’t wait to read more!

  2. Thank you so much for your sweet comment on my blog for my SITS Day!! :) I absolutely cannot wait till I can comfortably wear fall clothes!!! It’s still way too hot here in TX but hopefully by late next month I can pull out some of them! I hope you have a fab week!!

  3. Hi! I love the glazed donuts at KK. Favorite gymnast right now is Gabby Douglas! So cute!

  4. Krispy Kreme will get you every time!
