December has been an insanely busy month for me. Between working with new clients, cooking for clients, and other business ventures I haven’t had much free time. You’d think that since I cook for a living I always have something to eat, but unfortunately that never seems to be the case and I find myself eating out way more than I would like to admit. Last week the power went out at our studio kitchen so I found myself looking for somewhere to grab a quick dinner and get a little work done. Thankfully I was sent a Panera card from DailyBuzz Food as part of its Tastemaker Outreach Program to sample their soups in exchange for a review so off to Panera we went.
The one thing I LOVE about Panera is the free wifi which nowadays I rarely go somewhere unless I can take my computer or iPad along with me. The other thing I enjoy is the atmosphere – it’s always so warm and cozy and the seating is super comfy which is a must when i’m working. As far as the food goes I can’t remember the last time I’ve gotten anything besides the black bean soup from Panera. It’s delicious, creamy, and has a ton of flavor without being too heavy. So of course I had to get a bowl with a warm, crusty multi grain baguette on the side for dipping.
I figured since I was reviewing their soups I would try a new to me soup – the creamy tomato bisque. Topped with asiago croutons the soup is rich and creamy and definitely the ultimate comfort food. I’m glad I ordered that one as part of the you pick two since it was so rich I don’t know that I would have been able to eat a larger bowl. The soup also had hints of roasted red pepper and oregano which gave it a delicious complexity of flavors and also complimented the sweet tomatoes well. I love knowing that the soups are made from scratch using freshly sourced ingredients, definitely something I look for when trying new things.
My only complaints about the menu is that they rotate soups daily so my black bean isn’t always available, but after trying the creamy tomato ,which is a regular on the menu, I am confident I can find something I will enjoy no matter what’s available. Overall I would say I had a great experience and for a quick place to grab a healthy dinner Panera will definitely be a go to for me.
