30-Day Detox Program

It's so good to be back to blogging! After the craziest, busiest, most stressful two weeks I've had in a very long time, I finally have time to blog and take back some much-needed "me time".

I really want to take back my life and start getting the most out of life again. I recently purchased Optimal Health for a Vibrant Life by Tiffany Cruikshank and I thought today would be an excellent time to start detoxifying my life and replenishing my body and mind. This book is a 30-day detox to helps to gradually guide readers toward detoxifying their lives and living a healthier, more balanced lifestyle.

Week One

Week one focuses on digestion and eliminating toxic substances from your life. The focus of this week is drinking a lemon beverage every morning, taking a fish or omega-3 supplement daily, decreasing caffeine, alcohol and sugar intake, and starting a daily yoga practice.

Day 1

I started off my day with the lemon beverage. It wasn't terribly tasty, but it's meant to help digestion and cleanse the digestive system. It's a blend of freshly squeezed organic lemons, raw organic apple cider vinegar, organic honey, cayenne pepper and water. After drinking up, I did oil pulling for 20 minutes.

Roughly half an hour after drinking my lemon beverage, I had a delicious breakfast. I made scrambled eggs with kale, bell pepper and red onions. I also had half a grapefruit on the side.

For lunch, I had a gigantic salad with kale, fennel, dried apple slices, pecans and apple cider vinaigrette.

Food Prep

After lunch, I spent the majority of the afternoon cooking and baking away in the kitchen. I wanted to prepare as much food for the week as I could so that I am prepared for a successful week. I made a big assorted bean salad, unsweetened applesauce, veggie egg "muffins" and hard boiled eggs.

Afternoon Snack

I munched on some strawberries while I cooked all of the food. They were so sweet and juicy! I need to start buying strawberries more often.

Casey and I decided to use up some leftovers for dinner tonight. We had organic quinoa in the fridge, so we decided to top that with an assorted vegetable mix and have some fish for protein. It was a good combination, but it could have used a little more seasoning.

And that's it for day one of my 30-day detox! If you want to see recaps of each day of the detox, you can check out my Instagram account . I will also be posting here daily to share my journey to a better mind and body with you.

Have a great night!
