This morning as with yesterday morning, I began my day with a lemon beverage made of lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, honey, cayenne pepper and water. This drink is becoming much more palatable and I'm able to drink it easily now, especially with hot water instead of cold.
Both yesterday and today, I made myself a delicious detox green smoothie for breakfast. I simply blended up banana, grapefruit, spinach, kale, unsweetened almond milk, spirulina and ice to make this tasty drink.
Since starting the detox, I have also been trying to consume a lot more nuts and seeds in order to consume enough healthy fats. Something I've starting eating a lot more of is raw almonds. They're such a good snack and keep me satisfied until my next meal.
For lunch, I made myself a sweet kale salad topped with dried cranberries and pumpkin seeds.
I also had a small bowl of homemade unsweetened applesauce.
I wanted to make sure I got in enough omega-3 fatty acids today, so I decided to make myself a chia seed drink using some organic chia seeds I bought on the weekend.
I brewed a mason jar of green tea with forever nuts tea mixed in. I added a tablespoon of chia seeds and let it cool in the fridge for about an hour. By the time I was ready to drink it, it was cooled down and the chia seeds had swelled to perfection!
I drank it while reading The Honest Life by Jessica Alba. I love getting other people's perspectives on healthy, holistic living.
As for dinner, I had a bowl of my homemade mixed bean salad before heading off to Canada Day fireworks with some friends.
At the fireworks, I shared some fresh cut french fries with Casey as well as a delicious funnel cake with ice cream. It was a bit of a "cheat" treat, but it was definitely worth it! For me, this detox is just as much about finding balance in my life than it is eating healthy.
We enjoyed the fireworks and had a great time!
