Central Park: Ryan and I woke up and went for a run in Central Park. Last time I was there was with my sister and my niece about a year and a half ago. I think between the two trips I’ve still only seen about a third of the park – that place is huge! I wish Chicago had something like it.
Lunch was sandwiches from a nearby deli. I added a Fage w/ honey for some protein. That stuff is so good.
MoMA: After lunch, we walked over to the Museum of Modern Art. It was interesting, to say the least. Many of the exhibits were thought-provoking, some were beautiful, and others were straight up bizarre. Currently on exhibition is Cindy Sherman and all I have to say is WOW! Crazy, scary, weird, and totally awesome. Check out her work if you get the chance. Pretty sure she’s still haunting Ryan’s dreams.
On our walk back to the hotel I bought a bag of honey-roasted peanuts. Um…oh my goodness!
Night #2: Our first stop of the evening was dinner at Café Blossom , a vegan restaurant located in the Upper West Side.
I ordered the Soy Bacon Cheeseburger“caramelized onions, tapioca cheddar, soy bacon, grilled mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, chipotle aioli, on a sesame bun”, while Ryan went with the Southern Seitan Sandwich“spiced breaded seitan, caramelized onions, avocado, chipotle aioli on rosemary focaccia”. I don’t know which was better – they were both amazing.
After dinner we went and saw “Avenue Q”. I had heard good things about it and was not disappointed. Hilarious! I loved it! We bought the tickets day-of at the TKTS booth in Times Square and were able to get them 40% off. Good deal!
Our night ended with a quick stop for a slice of cherry cheesecake on the way back to the hotel. Um, I need to go back to New York. Man, did I eat well.
