I feel like a detective. Not a very good one, but still I did solve two fairly great mysteries during my run this afternoon. How did Stella get her groove back? More like how did Steffi get her run back!
I set out in the blistery cold on a treadmill at the gym for my 30 minute run indoors. After those 30 I planned to bundle up and hit the pavement for another 30 but something incredible happened on that treadmill.
I started racing.
That's right, racing, because...
I'm pretty sure the high school kid next to me also subscribed to this idea. The problem for her is she lasted 20 minutes and I lasted 60. I've never had so much fun on a treadmill.
As I dismounted my mill I made the decision to run another 30 outside. Yes, instead of just an hour (just an hour?) I was ready for 90 minutes of running fun. Umm, one tiny problem... it was really cold. I ran a slow 3 miles full of tough hills and decided that was good enough for me.
Did I mention my lips were still purple 20 minutes after my blistering hot shower that I took 25 minutes after I finished my run? Yes, it's true.
Happy Hippy Runner Girl
First Mystery Solved:
I need someone to race if I'm going to run on the mills. If I don't have someone to race... my treadmill workout will be cut short due to extreme boredom. every. single. time.
Second Mystery Solved:
I need to race more. Racing makes me tick. It makes me want to be a better runner. Without racing I lack motivation. My last race was way back on October 21, 2012. That's almost three months without racing... no bueno mi amigos.
Someone warn Brett. I'm on a mission to spend all our money on upcoming races.
