Not How I Saw It

Posted Dec 06 2011 5:25pm

Do you ever stop and think mid-day, this is not how I saw my day going?

That’s how it was for me today.

When I got up to take Bailey out I opened the back door to find this:

My first instincts were…”awwww, how pretty!” It was still coming down when we went outside and I loved watching Bailey jump and play in it. I got in my car to head to work and left early – hearing that the roads were pretty bad and I have a 30 mile commute to work, I figured I should allow extra time.

I didn’t make it one mile from our house before a gradual hill got the best of me. But when I saw this big four wheel drive truck slide sideways next to me – I knew if he couldn’t make it…neither could I!

Honestly I think we probably only got about an inch and a half of snow but there was a thin layer of ice below it that made everyone’s morning commute virtually impossible. David gets the gold star for coming to rescue me this morning! I’d be lost without him!

Then – my plans to see the doctor in the town I work were ruined when I couldn’t get to work…so I made plans to see a doctor nearby where we live, and since David’s class was cancelled, he was able to take me. I woke up with nasty white spots on my sore throat and I was positive I had strep throat!

The doctor is supposed to let me know what the culture says but for now I wait. She diagnosed me with “Hands, Mouth and Foot” disease. SOUNDS GROSS!! It’s a virus that causes ulcers in your throat, fever, etc. and I have to shoot this nasty, nasty medicine down my throat and gargle it. ICK!

That virus apparently is most common in infants and young children, but the doctor said there’s been an outbreak in adults recently. Whatever I have – it’s contagious….so I chose to work from home to avoid infecting my coworkers!

I also had big plans to workout tonight. But – the doctor said I needed to take it easy today so I’m doing exactly that. I inhaled some chicken noodle soup for lunch because it honestly hurts to eat anything else. Booo!

Good thing I worked hard in Attack yesterday and I’m hoping to get back into the gym tomorrow. I truly feel pretty fine, just a major sore throat and earache.

If all goes as planned – this is what my workouts will look like this week:

  • Sunday – Rest
  • Monday – Body Attack
  • Tuesday – Rest (Would have been Body Pump without the illness)
  • Wednesday – Cardio
  • Thursday – Body Pump
  • Friday – Attack or Cardio
  • Saturday – Body Pump & Possible Body Attack (if I don’t do Attack Friday)

It’s been a whirlwind of a day. I’m going to keep gargling my medicine, drink lots of water and snuggle down with my puppy! I have a few movies to watch which include The Help and Christmas with the Kranks <—I’ve seen it, but I love it! Red Box Special!

See you tomorrow!
