I love getting manicures and pedicures at the nail salon. It is such a fun way to get pampered.
I’m also a sucker for nail polishes with their pretty colors and cute little names.
Unfortunately, the ingredients in most nail polishes, polish removers, and quick dry sprays are extremely toxic and contain formaldehyde (a carcinogen), toluene (which affects the nervous system), and dibutyl phthalate (a reproductive and developmental toxin).
And to make matters worse, we’re not only putting them onto our bodies, but we’re also breathing them in.
The good news is that there are some wonderful non-toxic nail polishes and polish removers out there. And as always, I am going to share some of my favorites with you!
Zoya Nail Polish- As far as non-toxic polishes, these are probably the most well-known and accessible. You can even find them at stores like Target and Wal-Mart.
Piggy Paint Non-Toxic Polish- I’ve never personally used these polishes, but I’ve heard that they are pretty good. They are actually marketed to children, which I think is wonderful. It is never too early to use natural products!
Have you ever used non-toxic nail polishes? What did you think of them? Now that I’ve discovered some that I really like, I’ll bring them along with me when I go to a salon for a manicure or a pedicure.
Since I’ve received such great feedback on my Non-Toxic Beauty posts, I’ve decided to make them more of a regular thing. Are there any products that you’d like me to review or discuss? Suggestions are welcome!
I love zoya nail polishes — they have so many pretty colors However, I have to say that I just started getting the gelish nail polish, and I love it! It stays on my nails for two weeks — my french mani looks perfect right now. Have you heard anything about the gelish manicures? I can at least make a positive change by using zoya or spa rituals on my toes.
