I actually had a pretty fun filled weekend but I’ll break up the posts because this concert deserves its own post.
Oh my. *faints*
Ok, back in March my parents bought me a ticket to go see the New Kids on the Block with the Backstreet Boys. I was more into it for the BSB, but seeing New Kids was definitely an added bonus. I got a ticket from the broker that we used at the hotel and when I went to pick it up on Saturday, he informed me that it was on him for all of the tickets I’ve helped him sell. Woo-hoo! He got me a ticket that was on the loge side, three rows up. Awesome view of the stage!
It also came out onto the floor, so the stage extends further out the right side. I also met up with a couple of friends of mine from Maine who had come down from the show. The last time I saw them was the BSB concert back in ‘00!
The first opening act was a singer named Ashlynn (?) Huff. She was good. Good dancing. But the next opening act was Jordin Sparks! I was actually excited to see her perform. (I love her song Battlefield).
And then we waited…for about 10 minutes. Then the lights went out and people are screaming! But then their introduction is taking sooooo long. And then there they were! Ahhhh!!!
They sang a medley at the beginning and then sang their own songs one after another. Of course, I didn’t know NKOTB by heart but I knew all of the Backstreet Boys!
There was also a point where the New Kids came out into the audience and Danny Wood was right near us. Two girls pushed me out of the way so that they could go and try to touch him. Seriously, I doubt they were even born when New Kids was out. Ah well. I just admired from afar. If it was Donnie though, I would have taken those two girls down.
Oh and one of the friends that I had met up with earlier? Yep, she got pulled up on stage.
At the end of the show, they came out and sang their single “Don’t Turn Out the Lights”. And as an encore, the New Kids sang “Hangin’ Tough” and BSB sang “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” and then they started to almost duel it out on the stage. It was awesome.
Around this time last year, I went to the Backstreet Boys concert at the Bank of America Pavilion. My recap is on my former site Blissful Running and there are some great up-close pictures of the boys. (3rd row!)
This was probably my 8th time seeing the BSB in concert and it honestly never gets old. I love being a teenybopper every once in a while.
Is there are band that you love seeing over and over again? Is there a concert that you would like to go see? I would love to see Barenaked Ladies again. Or Matchbox 20. They put on good shows. Two acts that I haven’t seen yet that I would love to see are Michael Buble and Josh Groban. Le sigh
