Newman's Own Organics Reviews (Part 2)

Posted Sep 11 2009 4:54pm
Hey guys!

I'm back with some more Newman's Own Organics reviews:

Newman's Own Organics Honey Wheat Mini Pretzels

These pretzels are delicious! Like the protein pretzels, these have a delicious and healthy wheat taste. I can taste the sweetness from the honey, but they aren't sugary. The honey and wheat flavors share a great balance, and I really love the hearty taste. I love them plain, and I also had some with the Bee's Knees PB & CO. peanut butter. It heightened the honey taste and made for a perfect combo!

Before this, I never knew Newman's Own Organics made pretzels--I just knew them for their cookies. But these have got to be the best storebought pretzels I've had. I don't think I can go back to the Snyder's pretzels. I'll definitely be buying these again. You need to try Newman's Own Organics pretzels--especially if you don't like pretzels that seem airy and not substantial enough. The addition of whole wheat flour is what makes these pretzels shine. They are delicious, wholesome, and you can feel good about eating them :)

My Rating: A

Newman's Own Organics Orange Dark Chocolate

Just about every year at Christmas, we'd all get a chocolate orange. I loved the combination of orange + chocolate, and I'd always look forward to getting (and eating!) my chocolate orange. A piece of Newman's Own Organics Orange Chocolate sent me hurtling back down memory lane. The fruity orange tones blended well with the quality chocolate.

However, it's not the super dark chocolate that I know a lot of you like. I don't like my chocolate too dark, so it was a perfect combination for me. However, I think it's pretty universal flavored chocolate--if you like fruit + chocolate, you'll like it!

My rating: A

Newman's Own Organics Espresso Dark Chocolate

I liked this chocolate, but I thought the espresso flavor wasn't very strong. It was more like the espresso was an afterthought--a compliment to the chocolate, instead of coffee-flavored chocolate. If you like dark chocolate and coffee, this would be great for you. I'm not a huge dark chocolate fan, but my sister is. She really enjoyed this flavor, and recommends it for coffee and dark chocolate lovers.

My rating: B

Newman's Own Organics Cinnamon Graham Alphabet Cookies

I was excited to try these, as I'm a huge cinnamon fan and I love graham crackers. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the lack of flavor. I couldn't taste the cinnamon at all, and the cookies just tasted bland. I had one with a smear of peanut butter, and liked it more--of course, that was mostly because of the peanut butter. I think these cookies would be best with a pb, yogurt, or chocolate spread. They just lack their own flavor. Because of that, I won't be buying this flavor again.

My family mostly agreed with my, though my mom said they weren't too bad. She did say that since they don't have a big flavor, she probably wouldn't be satisfied and she'd end up eating too many of them. Newman's Own Organics has some outstanding product hits, but in my opinion, this one is a miss.

My rating: B-

Newman's Own Organics Cinnamon Hermit Cookies

These cookies are soft, chewy and delicious! Since the package says they're cinnamon-flavored, I wish that flavor was more pronounced. I couldn't taste the cinnamon very well, but I did like the big molasses taste. The cookies had a few raisins, which I liked. My mom was a huge fan of the raisins, though! They're slightly caloric for me-- 1 cookie is 80 calories. But they're definitely delicious!

My whole family agreed these were a hit. If you love soft chewy cookies (and molasses), you'll probably adore these! If you're a fan of crunchy cookies, the Newman's Own Organics Champion Chip cookies are more up your ally.

My rating: A-

I've got even more to try and write up, so stay tuned :)
