Navy Museum + Top Gun

Posted Jan 13 2014 4:00am

I’m a 30-year-old woman and I just watched Top Gun for the first time.

First, let me back up to Saturday. I managed to eek through one of my favorite workouts at home ( Tracey Mallets F.I.T ) with my busted butt. Thankful, someone helped keep me from running on it as I definitely needed a few more days of rest. I’m going to do some barre at home today and try to go for a short and slow run tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for me! I’m also working out some thoughts in my head on a post I’d like to share soon regarding not being as healthy as I’d like to be. Or, trying to be so healthy it’s unhealthy. I was single for a year so I got accustomed to eating/working out the same ways I always had and now that I’m dating again I’m beginning to realize how inconvenient some of my habits are in terms of enjoying everyday life with someone. I want to be healthy to live a long and happy life, and I think my quest for health was inhibiting my reaching one of those goals.

Saturday afternoon I met up with one of my favorite people for a quick life catch-up session at the Leisure Club. Later on I managed to catch a gorgeous sunset from Palafox Pier!

2014-01-11 17.18.47 After the sunset I went and ate some delicious sushi from Horizen. Despite how often I eat sushi this is the first time I’ve actually gone out to eat it. I always just pick it up from Publix or Apple Market. The bf heard that Horizen was a great place to go and it lived up to the hype! We split some veggie spring rolls to start: 2014-01-11 19.52.25 Then he had this monstrosity called the Monte Cristo. His reaction to it was so amazing I was :::thisclose::: to becoming un-vegetarian for a night. I’ve been toying with the idea of going pescatarian for a few months now so I think it may still happen, but I didn’t want my first foray into seafood to be something that had eel in it.  2014-01-11 19.58.52

Sunday afternoon we hung out at the Navy Museum for a while. My favorite part of the museum is this part of a recreated 1940′s town. If you live in Pensacola, or ever come to the area, you have to check this place out. It’s massive (you could easily spend half a day there), they have tons of interactive exhibits (like crawling into the cockpit of planes to play around) and it’s 100% free. FREE. It always saddens me when I see amazing museums that charge $25+ per person and I know so many families can’t afford to go there.

2014-01-12 14.10.21 After the museum we grabbed lunch from Evermans and decided it was the perfect time for me to watch Top Gun. It was better than I expected, but not something I’d probably watch over-and-over again (as apparently many people who follow me on Twitter said they do!)

Finally, just because it’s amazing, this photo of Salem. He was helping me work. 2014-01-11 07.57.24 How was your weekend?

What’s a popular movie everyone in the world has seen but you?
