Happy Sunday everyone! So this is what it feels like to have “real” weekends off? To be able to spend time with my family? I think I could get used to this.
To kick off my fun three day weekend, my friend Steph and her sister Lauren hosted the third annual Wigs, Whiskey & Wild, Wild Women party (that’s the first two W’s).
There were about 17 different whiskeys (scotch, rye, bourbon). I contributed the Jack Daniel’s Honey Whiskey. I’m not much of a whiskey drinker so I thought this would be mild enough for me. Mixed with some fresh lemon and on the rocks, it was.
There was a whole spread of finger foods as well (dips, veggies, tortilla chips, meatballs, etc.) to keep me full the whole evening.
Besides the whiskey, wigs were also highly encouraged. To go with my honey whiskey, I opted for the honey hair.
Itchy but so much fun!
Our lovely hosts for the evening (and the original WW&WWW crew).
I will say it over and over again: I love my friends.
Usually going to a party that involves so much booze, I’m afraid that I won’t be coherent enough to make it home. Thankfully, though, since I’m not a big whiskey fan, I was able to keep the drinking to a minimum and got home safe and sound around midnight.
On Saturday, my sister in law Sara threw a wine tasting/birthday/revealing of new kitchen party. She had an amazing set up of white wines chilling on ice, cheese, veggies, dips, red wines, kielbasa, everything! And she even had tasting sheets printed out so that we could take notes. I took it all seriously and tried every single wine.
My favorites were definitely the Riesling and the Andeluna Cabernet Sauvignon. Towards the end of the night we ended up playing a few rounds of Catch Phrase. I was doing pretty well until I got to the phrase “Steady Wind.” I was trying so hard to show the word steady until later that night when I realized I could have said “when you’re in high school and a guy asks a girl to go out, he asks her ‘do you want to go_____?’” Gah, I should have said that! Haha, either way, it was a really fun evening.
Oh, and here is the beautiful new kitchen! (Pictures from her Facebook page)
Yesterday was spent all day working on this:
We now have a catwalk across the two lofts! We’re having carpet put in in the lofts and the catwalk itself will be with the leftover hickory hardwood.
I’m looking to refocus the content of this blog. With my new job and new schedule, I just don’t feel like the blog is going in the same direction. I want to continue to write! I love having this outlet and meeting new people. But my focus will be different.
1) Should I change the name? I’m still a concierge but the “jogging” has certainly taken a backseat. If anyone can help with name changing, I would really appreciate it! Not so much picking out a name, but helping with my URL address and those types of things.
2) Since I still want to exercise and work it into my new schedule, I want to write about how I do that (i.e. meals to pack, exercising early in the morning, running on the weekends)
3) I don’t want to be an ambassador for anything anymore. It’s not me. Sure, I like to work out, but more on the casual side and to stay healthy. And I don’t want to feel obligated to do any product reviews. I’ll probably write up what I’ve received so far, but going forward, those e-mails will be discarded. Sorry! But it’s not what I want to focus on right now.
4) Having said that, I still would love to try out different restaurants in the city and still keep that aspect of the Jogging Concierge. That’s the fun part.
Phew…I think that’s it. I hope you all have a wonderful week!!
