With only about a week left in Chicago I find myself trying to soak in every last bit of what this great city has to offer…
Very high on my list is the Lakefront Trail.
I trained for my first 5k, as well as subsequent races , on this trail. Pounded the pavement through wind, rain, sweat and maybe a few tears. I lost a few pounds, but gained so much more—confidence, calf muscles, and a love for running.
I hate saying goodbye.
Denver, you better have some amazing trails waiting for me.
Half-Marathon Training Week 2:
Tuesday- 3 miles EZ (treadmill) + all-over weights
Wednesday-4 miles EZ (outside plus warm-up and cool down walk ~.6 miles)
Friday- 2.5 miles EZ (tread) + upper body weights
Saturday- Cardio: 30 min. elliptical, 10 min. bike
Mileage total: 10.1 miles
I worked out my training plan so that I could complete my long run on Saturday or Sunday and since the rain wouldn’t let up yesterday, I went today instead. My total mileage is low this week because the 5 mile long run will be part of next week’s total.
I officially signed up for the Denver Rock n Roll Half-marathon yesterday! No backing out now!
