My third toe is aching, and is pulsating not to mention swelling. And burning, What does it mean?

I was looking up some details for Flesh eating desease, When i moved my foot to were i would regain the feeling in my toes, When i was feeling a weard burning sensation in my third toe, I looked down and found it rapidly swelling, So i ran to the bathroom grabbed a rag and soked it in cold water, And it just got worse, And the pain increased!!! Now it is reaching an unbearable height of pain and i am losing my wits as too what is wrong with my foot.
