My teeth told me not to...

Posted Jan 12 2012 7:34pm

I have a very good excuse for not working yesterday for not likely not working out today: my teeth told me not to. No, I'm not kidding.

When I was 14 I got kicked in the mouth while I was swimming and one of my two front teeth "died". Since then it has slowly been changing colour and yellowing over the years. Since 2012 is my year to get my whole self back in working order, fixing that tooth is part of the plan. Before they can replace it with a veneer though, they wanted to whiten all of my teeth first so yesterday I had Zoom! whitening done. (Notice the one yellow-er tooth in the front?)

I am super happy with the results - my teeth look really bright and white. But, along with such a strong whitening process comes extreme sensitivity. Ouch! I was okay until last night and then my teeth hurt so much all night that I barely got a couple hours of sleep! Needless to say, I didn't really feel like doing weights last night and now today with basically no sleep and still-throbbing teeth I think I am going to pass again.

Not a great situation, since I'm in the throes of my last month of training for the half marathon, but heck, when your teeth tell you not to do something, you should listen! They are starting to feel better so maybe after dinner I'll feel like pounding out a workout, but for now, I'm not expecting much.

In other news, the forecast is calling for multiple inches of snow on Sunday! Grrr. I'm running a 15km race on Sunday. Appropriately it IS named the Chilly Chase, but still, I'd prefer not to be running it in the snow! Any of you done many races in the snow?
