I will be running, walking and crawling across the finish line of the American River Parkway Half Marathon on May 1, 2010 for the American Heart Association! I will be training from right about NOW until May and will raise 500 dollars for the cause. I feel really good about this decision. I will be doing something good for the community and for my health. If I am able to do this, I’ll be able to do anything! I’m super excited, but know how tight time will be for me for the next five months!
At the presentation for the AMA I found myself thinking a lot about my nonna. Her heart disease and stroke may or may not have been preventable, but it can be preventable so so many people including myself. I am doing this in her memory. I have realized that I have a responsibility to her memory to make a difference and to be a better person. I will do this.
This challenge has totally re-energized me! I packed up what I need for the day and am ready (although a little nervous) for school tonight!
When I think of my nonna, I picture us back in the day when we both a bit healthier…Salute Nonna!
