my first concert with civic.

Posted Oct 09 2012 9:11am
The Civic Orchestra of Chicago is now in full swing! After a full week of late night rehearsals, we had our first concert of the season last night. It couldn't have gone better:)

I had to work a 6 hour shift at the café making coffee all day, so I was a bit worried about being tired for the concert. I made myself a small coffee with an espresso shot before I walked to Orchestra Hall. At first I though, bad choice; you're gonna be jittery all night long. But it actually worked well and gave me an energy rush for the concert! It's nice to save coffee for moments when I really, really need it.

After I walked to Orchestra Hall, I quickly changed into my concert black attire, scarfed down some dinner (quinoa, spinach, and a couple strips of grilled chicken), finished my coffee, and made my way to the stage to warm up for our pre-concert rehearsal.  This time I wasn't late... ;)  We rehearsed small sections of our concert pieces
Respighi Fountains of Rome
Beethoven Symphony No. 7

We had about 45 minutes between the warm-up and our actual concert. I primped, rested, and chatted with some other girls in the dressing room....

...and then it was time to go on stage! The concert began at 8:00, but by 7:30 this space was 75% full
Sarah and her boyfriend, Adam

Noelle and me!
Sorry about the super shady's the best my iPhone 3 has to offer...
It was the perfect way to end the night! Now I have a couple evenings off of Civic rehearsals before we begin preparing for our next concert cycle. I finally have time to practice some of my solo repertoire, because, umm, grad school auditions might be coming up really soon? We'll see..

Thanks for reading!
