My First 13.1 Mile Race!

I feel like I just won Boston ;)
I set my alarm for 5:00am... unnecessary as I was up at 1:00am, 3:32am, and 4:45am too excited for 5 to roll around. Excited for FIVE AM? What has running done to me?

I have 13.1 miles ahead of me today. Brett and I worked out my game plan last night; listen to my body and don't go crazy fast the first half (it's mostly downhill the first 6 and the last 7 are the opposite of mostly downhill) and swing those arms like crazy on the second (to get up those little molehills). 

I also had a TON of inspiration from my friends on facebook. Thanks everyone; all the likes and comments mean so much to me. Your words will be with me every step of the way... literally as I've written some of them on my race bib:

Update: I didn't die! I finished! I crushed my personal goal! I couldn't have done all this without the man of my dreams cheering me along. Mile after mile after mile, Brett was there bringing a needed smile to my face. The race organizer even thanked him after for his encouragement... I'm a lucky gal.

Took 3rd in my age group; totally shocked by that one.

The reason I run. Gluten Free Blueberry Waffles, Peanut Butter, Bananas and lots o' Syrup was my after-breakfast-breakfast. YUM!
That's it. That's all... my first Half Marathon is in the books. But of course I'm not done with you yet. Tell me below, in the comments section, what your first Half Marathon was like?
