Hello and good morning! Middle of the week. Ahhhh….downward slope from here!
Yesterday, I did one of those things that really doesn’t count as a planned workout or one that is timed, thought about, or scheduled on a calendar. You know those kind of workouts. The ones that are super productive while being good for you, too! For me…my favorite kind of that workout is doing yard work. We could also add shoveling snow and mopping the floors to the list of these kind of workouts…although, I do not enjoy those nearly as much as yard work.
I think I get it from my family. My grandparents have a huge yard and have always gardened and spent much time growing the perfect vegetables and flowers. My aunt has prize-winning rose bushes and my mom’s yard is so manicured, it looks like it could be in a magazine. While my yard is not always as perfect as theirs, I try my best to keep it under control and neat. When I woke up yesterday morning, the sun was shining and the day looked like it was going to be pretty nice even though they were calling for rain later. I took my chances and headed outside…
…and got so much accomplished!
I cut the grass, weeded and tilled up three flower beds, raked the yard, and trimmed and shaped out shrubs. My mom also had the day off and she came over and worked her weed-eating magic around the edges of my yard. She’s a pro. After all of the hard work was done, my mom and I spent some time making plans for a small section of our yard that I plan on turning into a lounge/bonfire area. I’m so excited for it all to come together!
When I was done, I was pouring sweat like I had just run a marathon and my arms and legs were sore. I loved it! While I love teaching classes, running, and lifting weights. there are times when I love to get my workout in while doing hard physical work, both inside and outside the house. It’s the best of both worlds!…a killer workout + a nice clean house/yard. Win-win!
raccoon eyes, sweat, and dirt – gorgeous
I had to teach a Jazzercise class last night and, afterwards, I realized how tired I really was! I felt awesome during my set, however, when I sat down at home, I felt like I was glued to the recliner! I was whooped! I call that a successful day!
Today, I’m back at work and will spend a lot of my time trying to get some activity in by running up and down the steps in our main office. I’m working there two more times this week and there is a total of four floors…I try my best to walk as much as I can when I’m there! However, I have to teach two classes after a full eight hours so tonight might be another ‘glued to the recliner’ night! Oh well! I’ll take it!
Happy Wednesday, friends!
