I guess I was truly meant to relax though because we didn’t have Wifi in our hotel room. It was available in the lobby, but since the lobby was really far from our room, I never used my computer. I don’t think that I had ever been so out of touch with the outside world!
Honestly though, it was a really nice change. I got to enjoy every minute of our vacation and just live in the moment with the love of my life.
Yes- we turned into lobsters a few days after our arrival.
When we arrived at RIU Palace, we were given “Welcome Drinks” as we checked-in.
Michael welcomed himself three times.
Our room had an amazing view of the ocean, and we spent a lot of time on our balcony watching passersby and boats out on the water.
On Monday, we took an ATV tour through the desert and along the Pacific. Before we arrived, I fully intended on splitting the drive with Michael…but I quickly learned that there was NO WAY I could have driven one of those things!
We were given a five second lesson on how to operate them and then we off at full speed trying to catch up to our guide, who thought nothing of leaving the entire group in the dust.
The path was extremely curvy and rocky and at times, hilly. We even drove under a low bridge where we had to keep our heads completely down the whole time. Otherwise, we’d come out headless on the other side!
Parts of it were downright terrifying…although it was also a lot of fun.
I mean, just check out the scenery!
When we were near the end of the tour, Michael noticed a warning sign on our “two person” ATV that said never to carry more than two passengers at a time.
On Wednesday, the ocean waves were ridiculous. Some of them got up to ten feet! When they crashed to the shore, the waves actually shook our bed!
And of course, that would be the day when we had a scheduled Sunset Wine & Jazz Cruise.
Despite the waves, we were able to take in the beautiful scenery.
The cruise was a total blast…even if I did get a little seasick.
We took a lot of pictures, so I am going to split my recap into two separate posts, including one on how I managed to stay healthy while on vacation. After all, this is a health blog.
Did I miss anything important last week? Any celebrity gossip? I am off to catch up on emails and read the news.
I'm Erin, the happy woman behind The Grass Skirt. Here you'll learn all about how I manage to maintain a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle (with some silliness sprinkled in). Hope you'll enjoy it!
